
Advocacy and Sensitization Visit to Holy Ghost Parish, Wadata
As part of ongoing efforts to intensify awareness on the benefits of health insurance and the implementation of the health insurance scheme in the Benue State, the Benue State Health Insurance Agency (BNSHIA) paid an advocacy and sensitization visit to Holy Ghost Catholic Parish, Wadata, on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The delegation, led by representatives of the Agency (Nomor Jeremiah, Iordye Timothy and Jessica Tor-Agbidye), was warmly received by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Moses Iorapuu, along with members of the parish pastoral council. The purpose of the visit was to engage the church community in understanding the importance of enrolling Benue residents in the state’s health insurance scheme and to encourage participation in the informal sector programme, especially for self-employed group.
During the visit, the team emphasized that the health insurance scheme is aimed at providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to residents, reducing out-of-pocket expenditure, and ensuring financial risk protection.
Rev. Fr. Iorapuu expressed appreciation for the visit and acknowledged the significance of the programme in improving the well-being of the people. He pledged to support the sensitization efforts by helping to disseminate the message to his congregation and the wider community. He arranged that this coming Sunday being 10/8/2025 is for advocacy and sensitization visit to Holy Ghost parish, wadata to intensify awareness creation on health insurance scheme to achieve the desired goal of universal health coverage.
Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were shared with the church leadership to aid in the continued spread of the message within the parish.
The Agency remains committed to working with religious institutions and community stakeholders in driving health insurance uptake and achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Benue State.
